Leeann Lidz - Mandala Art

Leeann Lidz has been painting and creating art for over fifty years. Working in acrylics, watercolors and pen-and-ink, her creations have a distinct style with bright colors, careful detail and pleasing design. Her goal has always been to make the world a better place through art. Her recent project, Random Acts of Art, include painted rocks and book marks which she leaves for others to find. She had several Art-Giveaways where she has gifted friends and families with artwork of their choosing. Her current passion is the creation of dotted mandalas to use for peaceful contemplation and meditation.

In the past she has been part of solo and group shows in Southern California and Sonoma County and won many awards. She had work at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art Rental Gallery, created over 30 designs for Ethnographics greeting cards and painted a 500 square foot mural on the side of a gymnasium in Ventura with members of the community. She was co-administrator of Kids' Art, a creative arts program for youth-at-risk in Ventura County, an art teacher at Camp Winnarainbow and chair of the gallery committee at the Occidental Center for the Arts. Last year she published her memoir, "Adventures on the Gringo Trail," a hippy odyssey, with 100 illustrations.

She has been creating mandalas (which means circle in Sanskrit) for fifty years with various materials such as watercolors, colored pencils and collage. A year ago she learned the technique of dot paintings with acrylics and found it perfectly suited to the creation of mandalas. She is excited to be able to display them at the Ferndale Arts gallery as their newest member.
